Health Center
Our ACS Health Center is committed to the health, well-being, and safety of ACS students, staff and community. I always look for ways to upgrade the level of services provided to our community.
The followings are the list of services:
1. Registration: all new student files have to be turned in to the health center the first 45 days of school (Board Policy). This includes vaccination records, medical alerts, and contact emergency information...etc.
2. Organize files for all students, ECE through 12th grade, and make a list of any students with medical alert to be put on Power School where the superintendent, counselor, principal, classroom teachers, and specialists are aware and follow instructions for health situations.
3. All new teachers go through physical exams to ensure wellness of our community.
4. All former teachers undergo through medical check up to ensure healthy atmosphere to our children.
5. Follow up on all medicals for teachers, staff and students to boost wellness.
6. Complete planning and screening for all janitors, drivers and food handlers for infectious diseases as well as screening of vision and hearing for drivers. This also includes following up for special medical intervention.
7. Direct and ongoing communication with our local medical agencies to keep us updated with Whats Going On.
8. Screening check-up for ECE, elementary, middle and high school for vision, hearing, height and weight. Recording, analyzing, referring to specialists as well as recording results on the computer.
9. Dealing with all accidents and emergencies that occur on a daily basis for the whole school.
10. Computerized recording of daily visits of the students and follow-up with parents and teachers according to the need.
11. Referral Center for the best medical centers around us.
12. Maintain a fully equipped office to meet the needs of any emergency as well as the day to day procedures by ordering supplies either from the states or locally.
13. Health education classes according to the need as guest speaker to classes and ongoing teaching to individual students according to the need.
14. Continuous check-up for students with any communicable diseases; head lice, ring worm, mumps ..etc and inform administration, parents and follow-up.
15. Continual professional development for upgrading my knowledge and experience, I have lisenced my health center as an ACS training Center Affiliated with the American Heart Association for Heart Saving and First Aid Training, please check on these activites under my Wellness Fair Activities.
16. Conducting meetings with students, teachers and parents for special concerns of students or staff.
17. Maintaining good rapport with key medical people in the community; CDC department, University Hospital, ministry of health and King Hussien Medical for feedback information on whats going on in the community and have the preventive care needed at the school.
18. A 24 hour job with my mobile on for any emergency after school hours.
19. Cleaning and supplying first aid boxes for the gym, classrooms, labs, buses and spare ones for field trips.
20. I highly believe that healthy people physically, mentally, emotionally and socially will reach to their utmost performance and the office goes through a lot of effort to help everybody at school to meet these needs.
21. Contact with the health office at the American Embassy concerning mutual medical interest as well as other embassies for follow up purposes and other shared concerns.
22. Arrange for first aid and CPR classes for teachers, students and staff upon request.
23. I am involved in human rights and different other community services which reflect a very positive attitude and respect from the community.
An internest is invited to school at the beginning of each school year to do physicals for students and to administer Flu vaccines as well to students and parents.
We brought our local services to school for student and staff convenience.
I serve on many vital commities as Lunch Program, Child Protection, Crisis Response Committy, School Improvement team and I head the health and safety standard committee for accreditation purposes.
Taking the initiative of intensive primary health care unit gets me involved in the lives of our students and thank God the office has gained the confidence and trust of my community to show a very active role in student life and helping all to do their best.
